Can the outcome of post partum cardiomyopathy be predicted using late gadolinium enhancement CMR?

چکیده
Background Post partum cardiomyopathy (PPCM) can occur between the last trimester of pregnancy or within 5 months post partum, in the absence of any history of heart disease. Although rare, it may become unresponsive to medical treatment and can in such cases, require mechanical support or even a heart transplant. Predicting its evolution is unfortunately not possible. Late gadolinium enhancement CMR (LGE) can identify myocardial fibrosis and has shown its prognostic significance in DCM. However, the role of LGE in PPCM as a predictor of outcome has not been reported. The purpose of this study was to assess whether LGE imaging provides prognostic information in the outcome in post partum cardiomyopathy.

Myocardial fibrosis delineation in late gadolinium enhancement images of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy patients using deep learning methods
Introduction: Accurate delineation of myocardial fibrosis in Late Gadolinium Enhancement on Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (LGE-CMR) has a crucial role in the assessment and risk stratification of HCM patients. As this is time-consuming and requires expertise, automation can be essential in accelerating this process. This study aims to use Unet-based deep learning methods to automate the mentioned ...
متن کاملRecovery of methamphetamine associated cardiomyopathy predicted by late gadolinium enhanced cardiovascular magnetic resonance
Methamphetamine is known to cause a cardiomyopathy which may be reversible with appropriate medical therapy and cessation of use. Late gadolinium enhancement cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) has been shown to identify fibrosis in ischemic and non-ischemic cardiomyopathies. We present a case of severe methamphetamine-associated cardiomyopathy in which cardiac function recovered after 6 mo...
متن کاملLate gadolinium enhancement by cardiovascular magnetic resonance provides prognostic information in symptomatic alcoholic cardiomyopathy
Background Previous studies have demonstrated that late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) on cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR)predicted independently cardiac adverse outcomes in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). ACM patients did not have a better outcome than DCM and prognosis was poorer after development of heart failure. There is no report about the association between alcoholic cardiomyopathy (...

OBJECTIVES We sought to identify the histologic basis of myocardial late gadolinium enhancement cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). BACKGROUND The histologic basis of late gadolinium CMR in patients with HCM is unknown. METHODS A 28-year-old male patient with HCM and heart failure underwent late gadolinium enhancement CMR and, 49 days later, heart t...
متن کاملHypertrophic cardiomyopathy and fibrosis: correlation between late gadolinium enhancement on CMR and speckle tracking imaging using Ultrasound
Background Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is the most frequent genetic cardiovascular disorder and represents one of the most common cause of heart related sudden death in young adults. Myocardial fibrosis seems to be an independant predictor of adverse events including sudden death, ventricular arrhythmias and heart failure. While late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) on Cardiac Magnetic Resona...
